Our center specializes in the comprehensive management of skin and adnexal tumors, providing patients with advanced diagnostic and treatment options in a compassionate care environment.
Management of Squamous Cell Carcinoma
We provide expert care for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), including:
- Early-stage SCC: Surgical excision with appropriate margins, Mohs micrographic surgery, or topical therapies for superficial lesions.
- High-risk SCC: Management of tumors with features associated with higher recurrence and metastatic potential, including large size, poor differentiation, perineural invasion, and immunocompromised patients.
- Advanced and Metastatic SCC: Multimodal approach including surgery, radiation therapy, systemic therapies, and immunotherapy for locally advanced or metastatic disease.
- Regional Lymph Node Management: Sentinel lymph node biopsy and complete lymph node dissection when indicated.
Management of Malignant Melanoma
Our comprehensive approach to malignant melanoma includes:
- Early Detection and Diagnosis: Dermoscopic evaluation, total body photography, and biopsy techniques for accurate diagnosis and staging.
- Surgical Management: Wide local excision with appropriate margins based on Breslow thickness and tumor characteristics.
- Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy: Accurate staging procedure for intermediate-thickness melanomas and selected thin melanomas with high-risk features.
- Advanced Disease Management: Treatment for regional and metastatic disease including complete lymph node dissection, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.
- Genetic Testing and Counseling: Evaluation for hereditary melanoma syndromes when clinically indicated.
Other Skin and Adnexal Tumors
We also specialize in the management of various other skin and adnexal tumors:
- Basal Cell Carcinoma: The most common skin cancer, managed with surgical excision, Mohs surgery, or non-surgical modalities based on tumor characteristics and location.
- Merkel Cell Carcinoma: A rare and aggressive neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin requiring multimodal treatment.
- Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP): A rare soft tissue sarcoma arising from the dermis, often requiring wide excision with margin control.
- Adnexal Carcinomas: Management of rare tumors arising from sweat glands, sebaceous glands, and hair follicles, including sebaceous carcinoma, eccrine carcinoma, and trichilemmal carcinoma.
- Cutaneous Lymphomas: Collaboration with hematology-Oncology for management of primary cutaneous lymphomas.
